DFI Reflections - Week 5.    Collaborate.

A simple definition of 'collaborate' is to work with someone to achieve a goal or common purpose. Of course in reality this can be much more complex and difficult to achieve than it would seem. When I first started teaching, teachers tended to work as a single cell and depending on the school culture determined if or when any sharing occurred at all. As you can image, at times it was be isolating and ones resources were limited. I know this world of collaboration has been around for awhile but after recently returning to teaching I find this digital collaboration exciting and empowering. I loved the up skilling I did today with the Manaiakalani Team. For me with a little more practice and time these skills will be liberating not only for myself but more importantly for my learners.

  1. It's so good that you are finding collaborating digitally as we doing in DFI so supportive. Keep reaching out to us as you try new things and maybe need a bit of support or another pair of eyes to look at what you have created for feedback.
I took a look at your Butterflies site and you have made a good start on this. I hope you can see how visible learning can be on a site and how it can engage and motivate learners. More on sites next week which should help you too.

  3. Kia ora Sharon,
Great to see you are enjoying the opportunity for collaboration! What a wonderful journey to be on. It's great to hear you also had the opportunity to do a bit more learning about sites in a slightly different context. I wonder if you learned something that you thought might be interesting to add to your current class site? Did you come across anything that sparked your thinking? Looking forward to seeing your next blog post. How did DFI last week go?
Hope all is well in your bubble,
    Amie
